Grabex Windows and Demelza Hospice Care for Children once again team up to help gather much needed funds in support of Demelza and their extraordinary efforts of bringing joy and more precious moments to children in need and their families.
Last year we entered a karting challenge and launched #Race4Children campaign to raise money whilst competing in a series of endurance racing events. That summer events were unfortunately disrupted due to Covid-19. But this year we're starting again! And we'll be competing in a series of UK events over the course of summer - so keep your donations coming and let's help Demelza Hospice Care for Children together!
Our teams will be racing to raise awareness and gather much needed by Demelza funds. We’d like to invite everyone to support this great cause and spread the news about supporting this incredible children charity and let's Race 4 Children!
Race 4 Children
We have chosen to support Demelza Hospice Care for Children as it is close not only to our factory but also to our hearts. We supported Demelza during our past Open Day events and we had the privilege of visiting them to experience first hand how much difference and joy the wonderful team of Demelza in Eltham brings to children with terminal conditions, making sure they and their families have psychological support during those difficult times. Visiting the hospice with our team, learning about all the incredible work they are doing an hearing children's stories was truly an eye opening experience for all of us at Grabex!
Demelza Hospice Care for Children looks after some of the most vulnerable people in society and are continuing to support children with terminal conditions and their families. Demelza continues to offer end of life service and urgent clinical care, as well as working to support colleagues in the NHS. They have also recently introduced emergency respite for families struggling with the demands of long-term shielding with children with very complex needs. Therapy services have been adapted to reach people online. As lockdown gradually lifts, Demelza will work to help families emerge from shielding, re-introduce their Care at Home service and ensure their service continues in whatever ways are most needed.
Who's on board?
We'd like to thank our sponsors and partners for joining us in our efforts to raise awareness and help Demelza!
Why Demelza needs us?
For every £1 you give Demelza spends 80p on providing care.
"As a charity, we’re almost entirely dependent on the generosity of our supporters to provide the funds that keep our services going: 88% of our funding comes from our supporters. Statutory funding is not enough Only 12% of our money comes from the government, and that doesn’t cover the full cost of the care we provide, or the short breaks, transition services, sibling, family support and grandparent support, therapy sessions, events, activities, memory making and bereavement support. In the last financial year (April 2018-March 2019), Demelza provided 2,411 nights of support for families who desperately needed some respite. Only 495 of those nights had a statutory contribution, meaning every night of respite provided happened because of selfless generosity of their supporters." Demelza Hospice Care for Children
Meet the Team
Meet our Grabex Racing Team, who will be competing in a series of endurance karting challenges throughout the year!
In normal times the vast majority of funding comes from the public, and all amazing supporters, and they need all our help now and in the long-term. We are convinced that Demelza will play its full part and still be strong on the other side of the COVID-19 crisis. But we need to help them deal with the impact of the virus so they can continue to support the children who need their care for non-COVID conditions so everyone can experience life to the full again!
